I hit on a core memory the other day when I was talking to one of our community members about why I put so much effort into making sure everyone feels included in our community and at our events.
When I was in school I had a group of friends, and one of those friends had a birthday party.
Out of the 8 of us I was the only friend that wasn't invited, and the other 7 all agreed to not tell me.
I overheard them talking about the party and when I approached them about it they did eventually fess up, and tell me the truth.
Even though it was years ago I still remember how horrible it felt to be actively excluded from something, especially with people who I thought were friends.
I know I'm not alone in stories like this, and we all have a time when we excluded from an event but it is the main reason our community is targeted to be inclusive so no one feels the way I did that day.
Everyone knows that kids can be cruel, but so can adults.
Being a part of everything may not be your jam and that's ok, you don't have to be. But for me & our community making sure you feel included is one of our main pillars.
